Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Kik etc. The amount of social platforms around today makes talking to girls online easy but harder in real life.
Now all you need to do is have the courage to send a friend request. I’m not saying this doesn’t take balls. What if she says no? What if she ignores it? I recommend you have some real-world interactions with her before you send a friend request. Becoming friends with someone on a social platform allows them to see some very personal details and photos (depending on privacy controls) so it can be a big step for a girl to add you.
There are advantages to chatting online. Sitting behind the keyboard gives you a sense of safety. You can take your time to craft a witty response and there doesn’t have to be any awkward silences or moments of boredom in the conversation. The problem being, we are humans and those awkward silences and periods of boredom are all part of human interaction.
Behind a keyboard you miss out on all the subtle interactions that come with body language. Eye contact to show interest in what she is saying. The tone of her voice, is she as nervous as you are? Her body posture, does she have her arms crossed and look shut off to you? Or is she unconsciously flirting with you by playing with her hair.
Chat to girls online but if you want to make a meaningful connection it is time to man up and do it face to face.
There are plenty of books and websites on how to improve your conversation skills and I recommend you read them. But for this book I’ll list some basic techniques to consider using.
1: Open the conversation with a confident smile. Be mindful of your body language. Don’t be a close talker. Give her enough space to be comfortable and not threatened. Keep your shoulders back and use your hands when you speak. Don’t cross them across your chest or fidget.
